Very soon it will be time to take down all those lovely Christmas decorations you just put up. If you’re like most of us, it’s easier than it used to be because we decorate a little more simply than we used to. But next year can be easier still with very little effort on your part.
I’m willing to bet you have a lot of stuff in those boxes of decorations that you no longer use. Now is the perfect time to get rid of those items before you pack everything away for another year.
Give them away. Throw them away. Stow them away, if you must. But do separate them out from your regular Christmas decorations. You’ll thank yourself next Christmas!
If it’s difficult for you to get rid of things you don’t use, you may want to pack everything up in a separate box, label it and tape it securely shut. Now, you know you can always dip into the trove if you so desire, but we bet you won’t. If you don’t miss any of the items you’ve stowed away, then dispose of the whole box and be done with it.
There may be sentimental items or ornaments you are saving for your children to have someday. Follow the same procedure, but put them in a separate box easily added to as time goes on.
Next year you can feast your eyes on those Holiday decorations that you truly love without the distractions of those you don’t. And your Holiday decorating time will be, oh, so much shorter.
What do you think of this advice from the Clean Sweep Team? Will you have a hard time parting with all the extra “stuff”?
