6. Is a steam machine all that is necessary to eradicate bed bugs?

As effective as this process is, the one disadvantage of using steam is that there is no “residual” benefit.

Specifically, once the surface cools, there is no continuing kill benefit.

Hence, an appropriate pesticide should then be used, which will provide residual kill benefit.

It is important to note that the combination of proper vacuuming and steam heat in an integrated management approach can dramatically reduce the amount of pesticide needed, reducing their impact on the environment and building occupants.
